Belgian menswear brand LES HOMMES has opened it first flagship store in Belgium. The 200 sq m space is located in Antwerp and is part of an expansion programme that will foresee the opening of 15 new boutiques in Asia in three years time.
The store is the brand's second flagship store in Europe after Milan Porta Nuova opened in 2014. Like Milan, the concept and brand identity was developed by Piuarch. The sophisticated menswear brand distinguishes itself for its quality of concepts, materials research – often contrasting rich and poor materials – and its attention to detail; all reflected in the store design.
The store is located in the heart of Antwerp shopping district in a corner building with windows on both fronts, maximising the use of natural daylight. A number of mirrors also help to maximise the natural daylight.
The building provides a variety of textural references, including marble, champagne coloured glass, galvanised steel and concrete, which provide tactile and visual sensations for visitors.
The combination of simple materials with precious ones creates the effect of structural elegance and chromatic minimalism; like the white cloud marble of the walls and the raw concrete used in the stairs.
The attention to detail of the creative directors – Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch – is also reflected in the furniture.
